On the Day of the Tanker, a solemn ceremony of unveiling the monument to the Tankers took place in the Patriot Park.
The official part of the event was attended by representatives of the central military command and control bodies of the Russian Ministry of Defense, servicemen of the branches and arms of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, as well as veterans of the armored service and tank forces.
The monument was erected at the entrance to the Technical Center of the Park, on the historical territory of the Tank Museum. Founded in 1938 as the Museum of Combat Vehicles, the museum opened its doors to a wide range of visitors in September 1972, on Tanker's Day. In 2021, this day is superimposed on the 90th anniversary of the 38th NII BTVT - the main armored test range of the Russian army. It was the machines, which were tested at different times at the 38th Scientific Research Institute of Armored Technical Equipment, that became the basis of the collection of the Museum, and later of the Patriot Park.
The monument will forever perpetuate the memory of domestic tankers, their contribution to the history of the creation and formation of tank forces, as well as the development, testing and adoption of armored vehicles.
